I need poetry to enchant me, to shock me waked up, to shift my conscience of alarm clock and to open the world with me, to open to me to the world — with the word — in a new manner. I open am raised. The spiritual desire for poetry can overpower, so much I needs it to test and call my own perilous depths and vast spaces, my own wellbeing. But the work of art is beyond existential embarrassment. It is dumb and plaintive in its requiring, its need for renewal. It needs a reader to have it, to be had by it. Its life even depends on it.
